Collagen Replacement Therapy (CRT) can be used to increase the size of the lips in order to make them more full and voluptuous, or to provide lip border definition.  It can be used wherever facial lines and wrinkles need smoothing or filling in.  

Does it hurt?

The pain after is usually quite minimal. During the procedure  the skin will be numbed and you should experience very little pain.

How long does this procedure take?

This procedure generally requires approximately 30 minutes.

What are the risks involved?

All medical procedures have some potential risks, including the risks of bleeding, allergy to the anesthetic, and infection.  With the Collagen Replacement procedure, serious complications are rare.

How long do the results last?

Unfortunately, the results will not last forever. The body is always changing and will eventually absorb the collagen.

Will there be much scarring?

The scarring from this procedure is usually quite minor and well hidden.

How long before I can resume normal activities?

Most normal activities can be resumed immediately.

What benefit could I expect from the procedure?

If you are self-conscious about your facial lines, lips, and wrinkles, then collagen can open up many new possibilities for changing your image.  As with most cosmetic surgery, the benefit you derive will depend upon the change in attitude that you will have about yourself as a result of the procedure.

All medical procedures have the risks of scarring, bleeding, and infection. The health risks from these are relatively minor in this procedure. 

What are the alternatives?

Several alternatives exist. Lipstick and makeup may be used to make the lips appear larger than they are. Tattooing of the lips has also been done in order to give the appearance of larger size. 

Special Instructions?

As mentioned above, it is very important to make sure that there is no infection or bleeding in the treated area after this procedure. You must therefore be very careful to protect the area and keep it clean.
